Jo Barry lives in the New Forest and selects compositions from nature - in varying lights and locations- that remind us of the beauty that lies all around us. The outline of a bare tree; the play of sun on water; highlights of colour in a green sward: these are some of the physical impressions she records.

There is also a suggestion of warmth or chill in her settings, a whisper of silence on the hills or the hint of a breeze making the leaves rustle. The soul of her work is the feelings stirred by what lies beyond the realistic depiction of nature. The skill of her work is particularly in the play of light on different surfaces and recreating that effect in the etching process.

Since Jo began to concentrate on etching in 1978 she has shown regularly in the RA Summer exhibition, and has many times sold out the entire edition.
